I go out walking in my town of Ashland, Oregon each morning. There’s hardly anyone out and about these days, so it’s easy to find reflective time and to take in the images that present themselves along the way. I started this particular morning in Lithia Park.

You never know what to expect around the corner…

Sometimes there is guidance about an obstacle ahead…

Places of hope are still functioning, figuring out how to be engaged and supportive, despite restrictions related to the virus…

A critter takes in the life-giving water. That water is everywhere. Sometimes, we are the water, bringing refreshment to others…
Around town, people keep moving forward somehow…

Here, building what will be new apartments for some of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors…

With tenacity, a restaurant figures out how to serve take out and survive…

And along Lithia creek, there is the color of hope, present in a beautiful mural. The trees are eager to join in as well, with shades of green.
My walk today shows me glimpses of a town about to rise out of the ashes of Covid-19. The virus has not won. People have worked together and will spring back, renewed and ready to forge on, even if the path ahead is difficult…
I hope you’ll join me again for my morning glimpses (also out in the country). I promise to fill them with beauty and to keep the narrative blessedly short.
Until the next time…
Grace and peace to you,
Art Mills
